Beware of Complications of Diabetes on the Retina Symptoms

Diabetic retinopathy is a condition of diabetic complications caused by damage to blood vessels in the back of the eye is sensitive tissues (retina). Diabetes that affects the retina can be fatal to someone, it can even cause blindness. When people affected by diabetes, the body does not use sugar (glucose) properly. If blood sugar levels are too high, then the natural lens of the eye will swell, so the view becomes blurry. Later, the amount of sugar that is too much it can damage the small blood vessels that nourish the retina (capillary). Then came the 

diabetic retinopathy

In the early stages, diabetic retinopathy have no symptoms or only cause mild eye disorders. But over time, can lead to blindness. Diabetic retinopathy usually affects both eyes.Symptoms of diabetic retinopathy include: 


1. Floating spots in vision
2. Blurred vision or no focus
3. Dark stripes or red that impede vision
4. It's hard to see at night
5. Altogether lost sight / blind

Examination / Screening for Diabetic Retinopathy

As part of the eye test, your doctor will conduct a photo of the retina called fluorescein angiography. First of all, the doctor will enlarge the pupil and then photographed the interior of the eye. Then a special color liquid will be injected into a vein in the arm. Other photos will be taken along with the fluid flowing colors and began to circulate in the eye. The doctor will use these photos to see where the blood vessels that are closed, damaged or leaking. 

Doctors usually will also require you to undergo testing optical coherence tomography (OCT). This test produces images of cross-examination of the retina that may indicate the thickness of the retina and to determine whether fluid has leaked into the retina tissue. To control diabetes with diet and medication to slow or prevent the development of a diabetic retinopathy or other complication. It is better to do eye examination once a year.
