Avoid Osteoporosis, Avoid These Foods

In addition to support the body, bones also serves as a place to store the body's essential minerals. Because of the bone must be maintained, one with attention to food intake.

Foods that are high in calcium is needed to increase bone density, but there are some foods and beverages should be avoided because it accelerates bone fragility by removing the minerals. What are these foods?


1. Soft Drinks


Carbonated beverages contain phosphoric acid which will increase the rate of expenditure of calcium through the urine. Plus, most of the enthusiasts of soda in general avoid calcium-rich beverages like milk.


2. Salt


Salt, or more specifically sodium, causing loss of calcium and slowly reduce bone density. According to experts, you will lose about 40 milligrams of calcium in the urine for every 2,300 milligrams of sodium, the amount of sodium that must be met in a day.


In a study of postmenopausal women found that women who undergo high-sodium diet lost more bone mineral than those who do not.


Need to be aware that salt also appears in almost all processed foods such as whole wheat bread, sausage, cereal and fast food that contains 75 percent of the total daily sodium intake.


3. Caffeine


Caffeine also has the effect of increasing spending on bone calcium. In addition to coffee, plenty of food and beverages that contain caffeine high, such as energy drinks (about 80 mg per can). The issue has put on weight because caffeine addiction effects so it is difficult to switch to healthier choices.


4. Alcohol


Research shows that excessive intake of alcohol affects bone health and increase the risk of osteoporosis later in life. Excessive alcohol consumption will affect the pancreas and the absorption of calcium and vitamin D.
Some studies also found that alcohol lowers the female hormone estrogen and can cause irregular periods. Decreased levels of estrogen will trigger the process of remodeling or reshaping bone.


5. Vitamin A


Vitamin A is found in eggs, liver and milk fat is very good for the immune system and eyesight. But a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that excessive intake of vitamin A may increase the risk of fractures as much as seven times, especially those who took supplements of vitamin A. However vitamin A in small doses is still important for the body.
